disease and life.....

Since last 15 days I am working at the clinic of my uncle. I was very enthusiastic in the beginning but now I am doing it more with a sense of duty rather than enthusiasm. Everyday I see a number of people from different sections of society, with their own set of problems, diseases and worries.

Disease is something which I personally think, is more terrible than death. I am not talking about the acute ones like flu, typhoid, jaundice, malaria etc. They are bad but at least they go away or take you with them. The chronic diseases are the ones I am talking about. Diseases like chronic arthritis, gout, leprosy, cancer, HIV are only a few examples.

At the clinic I am seeing a vast number of people suffering everyday. Being a sufferer of arthritis myself, I can understand their pain in a way a normal person can't see.

When you are suffering with a disease you have to fight not only the physical symptoms associated with it but also the mental trauma it brings along with it. Each new day is a battle. You have to fight, no other choice. You fight the pain, you fight the feeling of incapability, misery and helplessness.

Their is a positive side of this too. You start seeing life in a whole new light. You start knowing the importance of the smallest things. You start developing love for life or I must say love for 'normal life'.

This is an experience..... but I can't invite you to share it. Be well....

Life... Is it real?

This is a silly question. But if we think over it, we may fine some relevance in this silly question. We work so hard in our lives to achieve our goals. We all have certain goals and we want to fulfill them. But what if the life is not real?

What is real? To know what is real we should know  that what is reality? Our sense organs help us in collecting stimulus from external environment. These stimuli travel through the nerve fibers in form of electric signals to reach the brain where the stimuli are processed. In this way reality is the input we receive through our sense organs in form of electric signals processed by our brain.

So can we create reality? Theoretically if we think, may be yes, if we are able to produce the same type of stimuli in the nerve fibers we can create reality.

Now think this, what if the life is not real? What if we are controlled by some one who is playing with us by providing the false stimulus of all that we are doing in a day. Sounds strange?

In ancient Hindu scripture the worldly life is described as 'maya' which means illusion. According to it the world is an illusion and a person should work towards attaining moksha.

In 1999 blockbuster movie 'The Matrix' the same concept was used. In this movie the machines had overpowered humans as species and were cultivating humans for fulfilling their energy needs as a human body produces energy in form of heat and electricity. In this movie the machines had kept the minds of the humans in control by a reality simulator known as the Matrix. This simulator program provided fake impulses to the humans to make them feel that they are living a normal life in the 21st century. This was a very interesting concept and the movie became a cult hit.

Now let's think about ourselves. We too can be a part of a simulation. The life we are living can be a simulation. Every input to the body can be a fake electric impulse causing an illusion of reality. The main centre controlling these impulses or running this simulation can be a supercomputer which we call God.

The concept is interesting. Isn't it?

We can try and derive an inference from this..... may be the world is unreal and we are just a bunch of bodies getting processed nerve signals.

But I think a better inference will be that watching sci-fi movies at young age can be injurious to the brain.

No Signal....

Value of life..

God has given life to us. I believe this because I am a spiritual person. If you are an atheist then you can believe in the theory of protoplasm or any other theory you want to believe in. But in any way we are living as human beings which are as a species superior than any other species on the earth. Humans have been gifted the power of thinking and reasoning by the nature which makes them superior to other creatures. Now this life as a human is seldom valued. People are never happy with the life they are living. They always want something more. Now that is not at all bad. But main thing is that we value the things we have only after we lose it or we experience what losing it will be like.

There is an incident i would like to share. Once I, my uncle and my uncle's friend went to Thirupati Balaji. While returning we had booked our tickets in KSRTC's Volvo buses which are considered very safe to travel. We boarded the bus around 8:30 from Thirupati  and me my uncle whom i call chacha and my uncle's friend whom I call Sanjay uncle settled on the airplane style cozy seats of the Volvo buses. We were feeling drowsy and slept instantly. At around 1:30 pm everybody woke up with a loud banging noise. I was startled. I was unable to understand what happened. Then I saw that the conductor who was a lady was hanging from her seat with her abdomen wide open. Her seat was just beside my seat and my white tee had become red with her blood. The driver was flattened on his seat with steering wheel over his body. Many people were injured including my uncle and his friend. I saw the conductor dying in front of me. It was an unreal experience for me. I realized the value of life that day.

But life is very changeable and so is human mind, so a person knowing the value of life at an instant can forget it in other. That's what which leads the strongest people to commit suicide. Who is to be blamed? Difficult question.....

The begining...

Life is strange and equally strange is the way it is created. It all starts with a sperm cell fertilizing an ovum and gets more complex as the time passes. We all are result of this process. Once life begins the fight for survival begins. There are basic instincts guiding an organism and there is the ability of thinking in primates which is most developed in humans. Anyways survival is the ultimate goal of any organism. We all are aware of Darwinian theory of 'survival of fittest'. In animals the one with the most basic strengths survives in the end. Humans are different in a way, survival of a man in today's world depends upon his financial and social status but in the end when the basic instincts overcome humans, the basic strengths win.

Lets just take example of natural calamities like flood, earthquake etc. When we see people gathering food packets we can clearly see through the the basic animal instincts in them. During some bomb-blast or accident the instinct for survival is undoubtedly prominent.

Anyways there are many aspects of life and we explore everyday, the emotions, relationships and the dimensions we can see life in. We will continue to explore..
