“The most harmful lies are the ones you speak to yourself.”
Lies are generally considered as bad things. They are designed to hide the truth and more often they tend to cause trust deficit in a relationship. But there is another side to the lies. Fiction although a lot of times it is based on truth, is essentially a lie. A lie told to entertain or to educate. Not all lies are harmful, some lies save lives, sometimes in thousands.
Lying to yourself can be harmful because it is here that you delude yourself and once delusion sets in you start believing in it sometimes strongly. A real belief is based on performance, a delusion is just a belief based on false or exaggerated evidence. The delusion can become reality if you have the capacity to perform and if you don’t it becomes your own kryptonite.
Lies damage trust, and weaken relationships. The damage caused by others is repairable if it is not a direct attack meant to destroy you and if you are strong, but damage done by a lie to yourself tend to take you in a deeper pit. The lies you tell to yourself have the ability to drag you to depths of darkness but only if you are a being of light, that is, if you have a conscience.
